The first article I read was about the validity of Twitter accounts. One report says that up to 10% of all accounts are fake and that users can buy them for a small fee. This, according to the article, is a threat to small businesses who try legitimately to gain followers or market their product.
The second article I found relates to security issues linked to QuizUp, a very popular app on iOS right now. It states that hackers have recently intercepted full names, e-mails, and approximate locations of random users--and sent them to ordinary strangers! Not only does this represent the frail nature of our technological web, but it also cautions users to be wary before putting in too much personal information.
The third article details the fact that France recently sent 1,000 troops to the Central African Republic, a state that continues to struggle with poverty, rape, and famine.
The fourth article outlines secessionist desires of some Scots to claim their own land and break free from Britain. Similar to secessionist movements in Europe or in Africa, it will interesting to see how this movement ends up.
The fifth article is related to Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic church. He claims that, "unfettered capitalism is 'tyranny'" and condemns the rich who do not give back to the poor.
The sixth article was about how, despite sufficient credentials and outstanding academic performance, some students at Xinjiang University in China cannot graduate if their political views differ from the standard Communist values exuded from the state.
The seventh article outlines when Buddha was actually born and explains early monuments made in his honor.
The final article examines trends in Internet uses and created a very interesting infographic (check this article out!) that shows how interconnected we are to computers, tablets, and the Internet itself.
All in all, Flipboard is a very useful application that should not go unnoticed. Get this app if you can!
